INTRODUCTION:- Social media is a web-based platform which helps us to share ideas, thoughts and information among the communities. It gives us quick electronics communication of contents like Article, News, Images, Videos, etc. A person can access Social media through a Computer, Tablet or Smartphone using social media is a very powerful way to communicate among the people as it has the ability to connect with anyone in the world and share information instantly. there are always  two sides to coin, the same goes for social media. Subsequently, different people have different opinions on this topic. We will see the advantages and disadvantages of social media.

ADVANTAGES OF SOCIAL MEDIA:- When we look at the positive aspect of social media, we find numerous advantages...…..

1.YouTube can be used by the students as a platform for learning. For students who are  preferring to work  with visual components can use these videos. Professors in various parts of the world upload videos in YouTube related to studies. Hence, multiple videos of the same course are available in YouTube so that students will be able to choose that is best suited for them. 

2. Social media platform helps students to carry out research work as it becomes easy to do group discussion among the students even when they are far from each other.  

3. With the help of social media, the knowledge and awareness levels of people have increased . We can know and understand the issues of any part of this world.

4. The economy has  touched the new height with the introduction of social media. The new e commerce is an the rise. People can  buy and sell online. It has great economic benefits.

5. Social media is helping people (especially youngsters) to access new job opportunities as many local business organizations recruits their employees through social media platform.

6. In earlier times, it was quite easy to suppress the rights of  people by suppressing their voices. Now a days, with the help of social media, people can stand against tyranny and injustice. People can raise voice against injustice. They can get united  with the help of online platforms and demand collective justice.

DISADVANTAGES OF SOCIAL MEDIA:- 

1. Insecurity and lack of privacy protection are the main disadvantage of social media. With everything public on social platforms , the privacy of  people could go manipulated  for negative uses.

2.  The excessive use of internet has created a lot of problems, especially for youth. The problems like youth isolation, individualism and lack  of interest in real life etc, are the most worrying problems created by social media.

3. Many children have become  victims of cyberbullying due to which they have suffered a lot.

4.  Thus, the sharing on social media especially by children must be monitored at all times. Next up is the addition of social media which is quite common amongst the youth. 

5. The addiction hampers with the academic performance of a students as they waste their  time on social media instead of studying. Social media also creates communal rifts. Fake news is spread with the use of it.

6. Videos, seasons and movies  which is a affecting their eyes and mental health.

CONCLUSION:- Social media have both advantages and disadvantages. It depends on us how we use it. The  youth must particularly create a balance between their academic performance, physical activities & social media. Excess use of anything is harmful & the some thing applies to social media. Therefore, we must strive to live a satisfying life with a right balance.
