 Neutron Star


A neutron star is the collapsed core of a massive supergiant star, which had a total mass of between 10 and 25 solar masses. At the meeting of the American Physical Society in December 1933 (the proceedings were published in January 1934), Walter Baade and Fritz Zwicky proposed the existence of neutron stars. If a star has density 8 to 10 times of our sun they can easily converted into Neutron Star. It is the most dense object in our universe after a black hole. We all know that a star can generate energy by nuclear fusion. In this process(Nuclear Fusion), 2 hydrogen atoms are converted to helium.


At the end of nuclear fusion the hydrogen atom will be converted to a Fe atom and we all know that iron (Fe) is a heavy element. When a star uses most of its fuel, the process of nuclear fusion stops and the heavier elements are concentrated at the core of the star. At this point, the star becomes unbalanced, causing it to explode as a supernova explosion and transform into a neutron star. The normal diameter of a neutron star is 25 kilometers. Normally a neutron star with a diameter of 25 km will have a mass of 1.4 - 2.16 solar masses. The gravity of a neutron star is 200 billion times that of our earth. If you were 50 kg on Earth , your weight on a neutron star would be 100000 billion kg. Usually 1 cubic cm neutron star mass is equal to the weight of Mount Everest. Due to Pulsing Effect we called it(Neutron Star) as Pulsar.



According to the law of conservation of angular momentum, this type of star rotates very first. The highest rotation of a neutron star is 716 rotations/ second according to current data. It has a very strong electromagnetic field due to its rapid rotation. Which is 8000 times of our earth. As a result it starts radiating radiation. In our observable universe we have discovered 1000 neutron stars(Pulsars).

Different Neutron Star Types:-

Magnetar(magnetic monster):-

             A magnetar is a Neutron star with a particularly strong magnetic field, about 1000 times stronger then a normal neutron star. That is about a trillion times Stronger then Earth's magnetic field and about 100 Million times Stronger then most powerful magnets ever made by humans, Scientists have only discovered about 30magnetars so far.

Pulsar:-

             Most of the roughly 3000 known neutron stars are pulsars, which emit twin beams of radiation from their magnetic poles. Those poles are not perfectly aligned  with with the neutron star rotation axis, so as the neutron star spins, the beams sweep across the sky, like beams from a light-house. To observers on Earth, this can make it look as through the pulsar's light is pulsing on and off.

Magnetar + Pulsar:-

             There are now six known neutron stars that are both pulsars and magnetars.

UY Scuti

UY SCUTI


UY Scuti is a red Supergiant Star in the constellation Scutum. It is considered one of the largest known star by the radius of our visible universe. It is also a member of our Milky way galaxy. UY Scuti was discovered by an German astronomer at the Bonn Observatory in 1860. Previously UY Scuti was known as BD-12°5055. UY Scuti is also a pulsating variable star, with a maximum brightness of magnitude 8.29 and a minimum of magnitude 10.56.The distance of UY Scuti from our earth is 9,500 light years(approximately). It has an estimated radius 1.188×109 KM. If placed at the center of the Solar System, its photosphere would at least engulf the orbit of Jupiter.


Characteristics:-

UY Scuti is a dust-enshrouded bright red supergiant and is classified as a semiregular variable with an approximate pulsation period of 740 days.

Supernova:-

            Based on current models of stellar evolution, UY Scuti has begun to fuse helium.


UY scuti is around 40 solar masses. Also, considering the fact that UY scuti is a red giant. It will mostly turn out to be a black hole after the violent process of core collapse, in around million years from now.
